Summer Camp Entries 2025 – Part 1: The Bus Ride and Arrival
Hey everyone!! :))
I don’t know about you, but I didn’t realize that one week could change you so much. I started my week questioning a lot about, well, everything, and now I feel more certain about a lot of things, including myself in general. This is gonna be a longer blog, so I’ll post multiple parts, oke? 🙂 So, without further ado, let’s just talk about a bunch of random (but important, at least to me) stuff.
First, I’ll describe the trip there and the first night. And yes, I really do need a whole blog post dedicated to a singular 4-hour bus ride because I’m extra. ♥️ Okay, so we left around 10:00 am, and I immediately pulled out my headphones and started playing music. I literally can’t go even 5 mins without it. 🎵 Then I went on Google Docs and started writing a song (called That’s Just Not Us Anymore) which I actually managed to finish before we arrived.
Then I resorted to journaling because my wifi gave up on me, and I wrote some more poems and so on. Also, something significant I realized on this trip was that spearmint gum is superior to peppermint gum. Don’t argue with me, you know it’s true. After journaling for a while, I began to zone out while listening to Super Shy and INVU. Here’s a quote from my journal, btw, in case you’re curious 🙃: “There are way too many people on this bus, I have rediscovered my hatred for crowds.” Yeah, I don’t really like crowds, just no, please. Then I drew some knives, which turned out pretty good. And before you begin to question this, they’re the only things I can draw at the moment, so yeah. I’m looking through my journal right now, and I was definitely going through an inspirational-poem phase, lol.
After about 3.5 hours in, we stopped at a mall and my friend and I walked around and stopped at Barnes and Noble, where we got some Starbucks and I got a book (Love and Olives by Jenna Evans Welch). It’s really good, definitely recommend! 🙂 Then it was back on the bus for 30 mins while streaming Victoria Justice and Blackpink, before giving up my phone for the week (which, by the way, wasn’t that bad; I would do it again).
Lastly, we arrived at camp!! We were greeted by the staff (who were super sweet!) and the whole thing was epic! A little bit loud for me, but it was fun nonetheless! Then we went to our cabins and started unpacking and getting settled in before heading to dinner and then doing a crazy obstacle course that included lots of mud and me surrendering to gravity on a balance beam. So fun. After that, we headed back to our cabin to clean up, then had a cabin talk where we had some excellent conversations and got to know each other better. Everyone in my cabin was so sweet and amazing, and I am so very grateful to know them! 💕
And yeah, that was it for the bus ride and first day, I’ll be posting a lot more this week than usual as a result of summer camp, so make sure to subscribe to my newsletter so you can hear the rest of this story (it gets really good!)!
See ya later! 🙂
