Summer Camp Entries – Part 2: Monday
Hey guys!! 🙂
Okay, so today let’s talk about what happened during the first full day at my summer camp! If you haven’t already read part one of my Summer Camp Entries series, I definitely recommend checking it out either after or before this (whichever you prefer). 🙃 Alright, now, let’s get started!
I was really tired when I woke up on my first full day at camp, after the long bus ride, the crowds, and the obstacle course from the previous night. My leader, a friend, and I all had to wake up extra early for a 1-mile morning run… bad idea. Don’t get me wrong, it was really fun, but after a little over half a mile, I just gave up because my lungs were on fire. I’m more of a Pilates girl than a running girl, I guess. Speaking of Pilates, my leader and I did some before returning to the cabin to clean up for breakfast. So yeah, note to self: don’t run —you’ll probably die.
After breakfast, I returned to the cabin and read Love and Olives (by Jenna Evans Welch) and talked with my friend before we decided to walk around camp and talk more about the most random things ever, you know, teenage girl stuff. ♥️
Okay, so now one (because I had a lot) of my favorite memories was being on the breadwinners’ team! Let me explain, because that probably sounds kind of interesting. 🍞 We were teaming up by cabin for cabin vs. cabin sports, like basketball and volleyball. We had to create distinct outfits so we wouldn’t look like the other cabins. One team did bees, and another did a French-inspired outfit. But we just took literal bread and taped it to our arms. Yes, this actually happened. The bread might have fallen off after the first game, but, hey, at least it was original. Also, I’m not really into sports (nor am I good at them), but that’s okay, because I still had fun with all of my bunkmates. 🙂
Between different sports, we had breaks before our team was called, and if we did cool stunts or whatever, we got points. Some of our group started a human pyramid, but eventually we all just started throwing bread, and it worked —so yeah, throw bread at people. 🥖
After we finished all the games (we didn’t win, by the way, but we had the best team spirit, in my opinion), we walked up a really long, steep hill and got dinner at the top. The view was amazing! Definitely killed my legs, though. 🫠
We had a little time after dinner, so I went back to the cabin and read some more while watching some counselors cheer on some girls who were tackling each other. (It was not serious, though, don’t worry.) It was quite entertaining, I won’t lie. Anyways… next, we went to one of my favorite things at camp… club! Club is the absolute best!! There was singing, funny skits, lessons, and community. I love club so much, the songs were always so good, and the lessons were so meaningful, valuable, and insightful. ♥️
After that, we headed back to the cabin and then went out to the barn, where we did a bunch of random fun stuff like watching people compete in a worm spitting contest with real worms. Thankfully, I was not selected to compete; I probably would’ve died if I were. 😐 Worms belong in the ground, not anywhere near my mouth. Ever.
Lastly, it was back to the cabin for cabin time, where we shared some more really good conversations. Then I fell asleep, and I didn’t even dream, which is weird, because I always do. I guess I was just really tired, lol.
Overall, it was a very good day, and though I was very tired afterwards, it was so worth it!
See ya later! 🙂
