Summer Camp Entries – Part 7: Saturday
Hey guys!! 🙂
Saturday was a sad day because we had to leave camp and go back home. 😔 I mean, don’t get me wrong —I was excited to come home to my friends and whatnot —but I miss waking up to a new day with my friends and leaders. What was nice, though, was that you came to camp with the people from your city, and you all went home together, so we could still stay in contact. 🙂 Also, I finally remembered to journal today, but it was only the second half of the day, so I’m gonna have to piece the morning together again. 😅 Anyways, let’s get right into it!
Today, we woke up, and thanks to yesterday’s preparations that we did to get our cabin ready for our departure today, we didn’t have to worry too much about the packing. I already packed most of my stuff, but now came the hardest part… actually closing the suitcase. (It twas a very real struggle.) I might have taken a couple of minutes, and it required me to literally sit on the suitcase while trying to close it, but I did it, guys, and I have no regrets about everything I packed. Before arriving at camp, I thought I might have overpacked, but it was actually just enough. I go through outfits like crazy, but hey, it’s better to be over-prepared than under-prepared! 🙂
I didn’t record what happened with breakfast and all of that, but I can assure you that we were fed, okay, don’t you worry. ❤
After all of the effort I put into packing my suitcase, I then had to carry it down the stairs, which was definitely a challenge. My friend was at the bottom of the stairs, being my emotional support, which I very much appreciated. ♥️ After that, we had to roll it up and down the hills (it was very hilly there) until we put our suitcases in this, um, (I don’t know what to call it) thing where all of our suitcases were stored in the meantime while we cleaned up our cabin. So yeah, that was an experience 🙃 (That suitcase probably weighed over half my weight, but at least I got my workout in for the day. 🙂)
Eventually, after a few more hours at camp, it was time to go. 😔 We all got our suitcases and put them on the bus, and then boarded the bus for the ride home. It was pretty chill, except for the part where we were called by name to come to the front of the bus to collect our phones and name our favorite thing about camp. I was grateful to have my phone back for music, but I did not like talking in front of everyone, even for just 2 words.
By the way, getting on the bus was kind of difficult because I had some bulky carry-on items, like my tote bag, purse, and camera. I had to be prepared—I don’t know what for—but I just had to be. For the most part, I just listened to music, drew, and wrote more in my journal. I don’t know why, but I feel like the ride home was shorter than the ride there. It probably was, but I don’t know. We didn’t make any stops and were home a little before the sky started turning orange. It was (again) a pain exiting the bus with my stuff, but I did it and was greeted by my family. They helped me lift my suitcase (thank goodness), and then I got in the car, and we headed home.
It was tough at first—I won’t lie—because I wasn’t able to see my friends every day. There will be (and are) some days when I’m at home without them. And when I was at camp, I knew that every day we were going to be doing something exciting together, and at home, that was gone. It’s not like I can go do super eventful things every day; that’s not how the real world works, which took me a second to realize. 😔 Eventually, I was able to settle in, and from then on it became easier. This blog definitely helped because it gave me a way to put my passions into practice. 🙂
So yeah, if you’re going to a summer camp (or just came back from one), it’s important to recognize the little things in your daily life that bring you joy. Which is basically gratitude. ☺️
I have a YouTube channel by the way if you want to check it out: (https://youtube.com/shorts/NQBQJ0XhJgw?si=e9MFmlIJqL_xHj0a)
That’s all for today’s post and this series as well! I hope you enjoyed it and (maybe) learned something from it. 🙂
Thanks for reading! 🙂
